A Cyber Security Awareness Programme was conducted on 30 October 2026 to educate students about the importance of online safety, cybercrime prevention, and responsible use of digital technologies. The programme was conducted by Mrs. D. Anitha, Coordinator of the Anti-Drug Club.
As part of the programme, informative videos on cyber safety and various forms of cybercrime were screened for the students. The videos highlighted common online threats such as phishing attacks, identity theft, cyberbullying, online fraud, hacking, and misuse of personal information. The students were made aware of the potential risks associated with unsafe internet browsing and irresponsible social media usage.
The resource person explained essential cyber safety measures to protect personal and sensitive information. Students were advised to create strong and unique passwords, enable two-factor authentication, avoid sharing personal details and banking information on untrusted platforms, refrain from clicking suspicious links, and download applications only from trusted sources. The importance of regularly updating software, maintaining privacy settings on social media accounts, and avoiding the use of unsecured public Wi-Fi networks was also emphasized.
The session further sensitized students about the need to think critically before sharing information online and to report suspicious activities or cyber incidents to the appropriate authorities. The importance of maintaining digital discipline and practising responsible online behaviour was strongly highlighted.
The programme created awareness among students about emerging cyber threats and equipped them with practical knowledge to safeguard their personal data and digital identity. It encouraged them to become responsible digital citizens and use technology safely and wisely.
