World Earth Day was celebrated on 22.04.2026 in the institution with great enthusiasm and active participation from the B.Ed. students. As part of the celebration, a debate competition was organized on the topic “உலக பூமி தினத்தை கொண்டாடுவது அவசியமா, அவசியமில்லையா?” (“Is Celebrating World Earth Day Necessary or Unnecessary?”). The programme aimed to create awareness among students about environmental protection, conservation of natural resources, and the importance of sustainable living practices. The debate encouraged students to express their views, improve communication skills, and develop environmental consciousness.
The debate was conducted with two teams presenting their arguments. The team supporting the topic “அவசியம்” (Necessary) consisted of Mrs. Pavithra, Ms. Dency Sherin, Mrs. Nivedha, and Mrs. Vasuki. They emphasized the importance of celebrating World Earth Day to spread awareness about environmental issues such as pollution, deforestation, climate change, and conservation of nature. They highlighted that such celebrations motivate people to take responsibility for protecting the Earth for future generations.
The team opposing the topic “அவசியமில்லை” (Unnecessary) included Ms. Sowmiya, Mr. Shankar, Mrs Shalini, and Mrs Sathya. They argued that merely celebrating a single day is not sufficient unless people practice environmental responsibility throughout the year. Their points stressed that real action and continuous commitment are more important than symbolic celebrations.
The debate session was moderated by the principal, who guided the discussion effectively and encouraged both teams to present their opinions confidently and respectfully. The moderator appreciated the students for their critical thinking, participation, and awareness regarding environmental issues. The event concluded successfully with appreciation for all the participants and organizers.
